Student pickup and drop-off in the morning and afternoon has always been a safety concern for many schools’ premise, especially when kids are standing in crowded public areas where traffic can be heavily congested while waiting for their parents to arrive. Similarly, for convenience, parents tend to stop their vehicles in a no-stopping zone to let their kids in and out of the car, halting traffic behind them. Consequently, parents who are stuck behind the first vehicle are more likely to allow their kids to enter or exit the vehicle in a much unsafe area.

SOLUTION

EOS Australia has developed an informative display system powered by Digifort. This system utilizes number plate data captured by the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). The ANPR database maintained by the school contains vehicle registration numbers associated with each student. When a registered vehicle arrives in the designated area during pickup or drop-off hours, the license plate information is sent to multiple digital signage, indicating which vehicle has arrived and for which student. The supervisor will only then allow the student to proceed to the pickup area. Furthermore, if vehicles are stopped in illegal areas outside of the pickup and drop-off zones, the operator is alerted to ensure safety as these areas are deemed unsafe for stopping.
